Milan-Malpensa Airport (Aeroporto di Milano-Malpensa/ MXP) is the largest and one of the busiest airports in Milan. It is located northwest of the city at a distance of 45 km. From it you can reach Milan quickly and conveniently by train, bus or car.

The train from Malpensa to Milan
The airport is connected to Milan by the Malpensa Express trains, which arrive at the city’s main train stations: Milano Cadorna and Milano Centrale, with a stop at Milano Bovisa.
- Trains depart from Terminal 2 with an arrival at Terminal 1 every 15—20 minutes.
- Tickets cost 13 €.
When choosing an express train to get to the airport, I advise you to allow time for force majeure: trains in Italy are not the most punctual transportation.
To Milano Centrale (with a stop at Porta Garibaldi):
- The trains run from 5:37 to 22:37.
- Travel time is 58 minutes.
To Milano Cadorna:
- The first train leaves at 05:20 and the last train leaves at 00:20.
- Travel time is 43 minutes.
Bus Malpensa — Milan
There are buses from the airport to Milan by Terravision, Autostradale (Malpensa Bus Express) and Malpensa Shuttle (Air Pullman).
The stop is near the arrivals terminal. In Milan, buses stop at Piazza Luigi di Savoia next to Milano Centrale train station.
Tickets can be purchased online, at arrival terminals or from the driver; in Milan, when traveling to the airport, at a kiosk in the piazza or when boarding the bus. Tickets cost 8—10 €.
Departure every 20 min. Travel time 40—50 min.
- Terravision — the first flight departs at 05:05 and the last flight departs at 00:10.
- Malpensa Bus Express — buses run from 4:00 to 23:00.
- Malpensa Shuttle — 05:00 to 01:20.
Cab Malpensa — Milan
Cab stands at Malpensa Airport are located near the arrivals terminal, in Terminal 1 near Gate 6 and in Terminal 2 near Gate 4. You can book a car by calling the single number 02 7777 or via the MiT (Milan in Taxi) app. You can also call the transportation company directly. A cab will cost from 95 €.
A cab via KiwiTaxi service will cost from 82 €. The driver will meet you at the arrival hall with a name plate, payment can be made online when ordering or in cash.
By car
Both terminals have offices of car rental companies. The most popular are Avis, Europcar, Sixt, Hertz. The offices are open from 07:00 to midnight.
The easiest way to get to Milan is by bus, the most expensive is a cab ride — but practically with a private driver who will meet you immediately after arrival.
