Port of Hamburg
The port is Hamburg’s main attraction, and the three-day celebration in May, Harbor Day, is always the highlight of the year. Hamburg’s harbor is not only the largest in the country, but also the seventh in the European Union and the ninth in the world. The length of the harbor is as much as 46 kilometers. It is from this area it is better to start acquaintance with the city to feel its maritime atmosphere. The port is open around the clock.
Barn City (Speicherstadt)
Hamburg’s second most important attraction is the Barn City. In fact, it is the largest complex of industrial warehouses in the world. The buildings are made of red brick and the foundations are made of deep oak logs, i.e. they stand directly on the water. It is hard to imagine that such tall, large-scale buildings even today store goods unloaded from ships. The atmosphere is complemented by canals and metal arch bridges. Main Town Hall (Rathaus)
The City Hall is also located near the harbor. It has a neo-Renaissance style and houses the senate and the city administration. The roof is painted turquoise and sky blue, making it recognizable from afar against the background of other buildings in the city. Fairs and festivals are held in the town hall square all year round.

Lake Alster
Despite the industrial character of the city and the crazy cost of land, right in the center of Hamburg there is a place for a huge body of water — Lake Alster. It is a favorite place for citizens and tourists: there are parks with places for rest and picnic, running and bicycle paths, barbecue zones around it. The embankment stretches for 7 km and is called «Health Path».
Great location to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Underground tunnel under the Elbe (St. Pauli Landungsbrücken)
The tunnel was originally built at the beginning of the 20th century for the port, but is now used by cars, cyclists and pedestrians. The 426.5 m long passage connects the St. Pauli district and the city center. Since 2003, the structure has been protected by the state as a historical and cultural monument.

Altonaer Fischmarkt (Altonaer Fischmarkt)
A must-see! The market has been performing its function for three centuries. Every day here you can buy fresh fish and seafood, taste a variety of seafood fast food, and buy themed souvenirs. The place attracts noisy companies of locals and guests of the city.

Hofbräu Wirtshaus Speersort (Hofbräu Wirtshaus Speersort)
This is the Hamburg branch of the mecca of German beer fans. Travel from Hamburg to Munich for an evening? Why not. The Bavarian style of a world-famous drinking establishment, waitresses in bouffant dresses with ten mugs of beer in their hands and endless rowdy fun — all in one place with a capacity of 700 people.

Reeperbahn street (Reeperbahn)
Historically, it is the center of nightlife near the port, in the district of Sankt Pauli (Sankt Pauli). Bars, clubs, cabarets, legal brothels and adult stores are all concentrated in one place. Locals call this neighborhood «Sin Mile» or «Red Lights».
