The region is located on the shores of the Adriatic Sea. There are about 35 beaches in the Riviera: both with developed infrastructure and wild secluded places. There are Blue Flag beaches, a sign of clean water and environmental friendliness.
The coast has a sunny climate, incredible scenery, activities for everyone and lodging options from budget campgrounds to luxury hotels.
I will tell you about the most interesting beaches of the Budva Riviera. What else to do in Budva, told here.
Beaches in Budva
Budva has municipal beaches with well-developed infrastructure and tiny secluded places for secluded rest. There are entertainments for every age and budget: cozy cafes, attractions, restaurants, discos. There are five beaches in the town: Slavianski, Mogren, Richard’s Head, Pisana and Dukli. They are located in walking distance from the city center.
The closed beach of Dukley is only for guests of the famous 5* Dukley Hotel Resort — a room for two with breakfast costs from 220 € per night.
The other four beaches are accessible to all comers.
Slovenska beach (Slovenska plaža)
The biggest beach in the center of Budva is Slavianski beach. Its length is 1.6 km. The promenade is divided into public and private areas. There are areas rented by restaurants and cafes for visitors' recreation.
Gentle entrance to the sea, in some places precipitous, after 2—3 meters you will get to the depth. The shore is covered with pebbles, shells and sand. In high season, due to the large number of tourists, the water becomes dirty and muddy, especially on the coast near the port. Buoys mark the safe zone of the sea and a rescue boat is on duty behind them.
Along Slavyansky Beach there are street food stalls, ice cream stands, souvenir shops. There are many cafes and restaurants where you can try fresh seafood.
- Price: admission is free, for a pair set (two sunbeds and an umbrella) from 10 €.
- Infrastructure: changing cabins, showers, paid toilets, marine entertainment, children’s attractions, umbrellas, sun beds, bars, cafes, stores.
Mogren (Plaža Mogren)
Mogren Beach is located behind the Old Town. It is accessed by a stone path between a rock and a metal railing. To get to the beach, pass by the sculpture 'Dancing'.
It is divided by a cliff into two rest areas, Mogren 1 and Mogren 2.
Mogren 1
The length of Mogren 1 is 250 meters. The coast is covered with fine pebbles and sand. There are a few sun beds. Most vacationers sunbathe on their blankets.
- Price: admission is free, for a couple of sunbeds and an umbrella it’s about 15 €, umbrella rental is 5 €.
- Infrastructure: changing rooms, showers, paid toilets, cafe with local food and drinks, lifeguard, medical service.
Mogren 2
Mogren Beach 2 is located behind the cliff and is 300 meters long. The beach is accessed by a wooden bridge. It is not worth going to the beach with strollers because of the difficult path.
The area is picturesque. Extreme athletes jump into the water from the cliff. The shore is coarse sand, and the water is clear. The entrance to the sea is smooth, and under the water sometimes there are large stones, seaweed, crabs. I advise you to enter the sea carefully.
- Price: admission is free, two sun loungers and an umbrella are 15 €.
- Infrastructure: sun loungers with umbrellas.
Ričardova Glava (Plaža Ričardova Glava)
Next to the Old Town Fortress there is the beach of Richard’s Head, which is named after the actor Richard Widmark. He played the lead role in the movie Viking Ships. Filming took place on the coast in 1963.
The length of the beach is 250 meters. The shore is pebbly, covered with sand on top. From the coast you can see the picturesque bay of Budva and the island of St. Nicholas. The beach is divided into a paid and free area. The paid area is rented by the 4*Avala Hotel(Avalaresort), it is fenced. The price for visiting the private zone includes a sun lounger and an umbrella. The free zone is open to everyone. In summer there is sometimes a DJ on the beach.

At the end of the town’s marina is the tiny Pisana beach. It is only 100 meters long. The coastline is a mixture of sand and pebbles.
- Price: admission is free.
- Infrastructure: changing rooms, showers, toilets, deck chairs, cafe.
Plaza Hawaii.
The island of Sveti Nikola (Ostrvo Sveti Nikola) belongs to Budva. There are several beaches on the island, which are united by the common name «Plaza Hawaii».
There are fewer vacationers and the water is cleaner than on the central beaches. You can find a secluded cove and relax from tourists.
The length of the coast is about 800 meters. The coast is covered with large pebbles, stones, rarely sand. If you do not want to rent a chaise lounge, then take a thick bedding or plaid, because it hurts to lie on the stones. In the water are large stones, there are sea urchins — I advise you to take swimming shoes.
- Price: rent a beach set (two sun loungers and an umbrella) — 10—15 €.
- Infrastructure: showers, changing rooms, toilets, volleyball court, umbrellas and sun beds, medical center and rescue service, two bars, restaurant and ice cream stand. No stores, playgrounds, water attractions, internet.
- How to get there: by boat, which leaves from the town’s marina. The round trip fare is 3 €.

Representatives of the elite of different countries, politicians, celebrities and successful businessmen vacation there.
